Small Outdoor Sauna – Blackheath, London
This client in Blackheath wanted to put a sauna in the access way to the garden from the side of the house as he was using the wider access from the other side. There was no space to build the sauna in situ so we built the box, finishesd from three sides, slid it in place and then installed the sauna inside.
The interior finish in Thermo Aspen gives the sauna a warm, inviting feel, complemented by discreet concealed lighting that enhances the linear design. A glass-fronted door framed in matching Thermo Aspen maintains visibility and connection to the garden room, ensuring the sauna feels integrated yet distinct.
MATERIALS
The sauna interior is finished in Thermo Aspen, a premium heat-treated timber selected for its rich golden tone, smooth texture, and exceptional durability. Resistant to warping and wear, Thermo Aspen provides both beauty and longevity, making it ideal for intensive sauna use.
Every surface—including the walls, ceiling, and floating benches—was meticulously clad in horizontal Thermo Aspen, creating a harmonious and cohesive finish. The linear arrangement adds structure and rhythm, while the natural colour of the timber softens the overall look, giving the interior a warm and inviting character.
A glass sauna door framed in matching Thermo Aspen complements the timber while introducing light and visibility. This combination of solid wood and glass ensures the sauna feels bright and connected to its surroundings, while retaining a private, calming atmosphere inside.
FACILITIES
The sauna features a 1+1 bench configuration with one lower and one higher floating bench. The floating design keeps the floor clear, simplifying maintenance while enhancing the visual openness of the space. The bench proportions allow for both reclining and upright seating, offering flexibility and comfort for users.
HEATER
The hybrid design features a HUUM CLIFF 6kW single-phase heater, known for its elegant slimline form and even heat distribution. Control is managed via the HUUM UKU Glass Wi-Fi Touch Pad, enabling convenient operation and pre-heating directly from a smartphone.
