Built cleverly into an underutilized space beneath a staircase, this custom sauna maximizes functionality in a compact footprint. Designed for up to two users, it includes thoughtfully arranged benches and high-end components that offer a luxurious yet practical wellness solution.
The project showcases how even the most awkward corners of a home can be transformed into beautiful, functional sanctuaries. With seamless integration and minimal disruption to the surrounding space, this installation proves that wellness can live anywhere.
MATERIALS
This sauna is clad in Thermo Aspen, a thermally modified hardwood known for its stability, pleasant scent, and rich, honey-toned color. The vertical and angular arrangement of the wood cladding enhances the feeling of warmth and architectural interest. Thermo Aspen's low thermal conductivity makes it a safe and comfortable choice for sauna interiors, while also being highly resistant to warping over time.
Its smooth surface and rich tones add a refined look, elevating the entire aesthetic. The clean cuts and seamless joinery reflect the craftsmanship behind every element of this build.
FACILITIES
The layout features two floating lower benches and one elevated bench, all designed without support legs to allow easy cleaning underneath. This design not only improves hygiene but also gives the interior a minimal, floating aesthetic. The spatial arrangement accommodates flexible seating positions and excellent airflow — essential in any compact size sauna where every centimetre counts.
LED strip lighting is tucked discreetly to accentuate the lines and enhance the ambient experience. The overall layout is ergonomic, promoting both relaxation and visual harmony.
HEATER
The sauna is equipped with a HUUM CLIFF 10.5kW single-phase electric heater, renowned for its stunning Nordic-inspired stone surface and slim, space-efficient design. It heats quickly thanks to an internal air tunnel, while the generous stone capacity ensures long-lasting, soft steam. Paired with the HUUM UKU Glass Wi-Fi controller, users can remotely manage the sauna's temperature and settings with ease.
This high-performance system is both elegant and sustainable, designed to minimize metal waste through smart manufacturing. The result is a sauna that feels high-end and future-ready.
