SAUNA REFURBISHEMENT FOR THE ARMED FORCES
The Royal Air force approached us to repair the intermittently working male sauna and during the initial assessment the sauna heater was found to be at the end of the usable life so it was disconnected and carted away to the tip. While the budget for the replacement was sanctioned the facilities manager requested to upgrade the sauna with repair to cladding and lighting, but the final calculations worked in favour of complete replacement of the existing 2.4m X 2.4m commercial grade sauna.
We stripped the sauna completely of all cladding, insulation and frame exposing the blockwork behind, and installed a completely new sauna. The results as you can see are amazing, the whole project was completed within 3 weeks with careful planning as there was no space to store materials or builders waste that was carried away each day after the work finished.The installation again uses a solid insulated frame, clad internally in high-quality sauna timber, and fitted with floating benches to keep the floor area clear.
MATERIALS
The sauna interior is finished in Alder, a premium heat-treated timber selected for its rich pink tone, smooth texture, and exceptional durability. Resistant to warping and wear, Alder provides both beauty and longevity, making it ideal for intensive sauna use.
The horizontal arrangement adds structure and rhythm, while the natural colour of the timber softens the overall look, giving the interior a warm and inviting character. An LED lighting strip makes the sauna feel bright and welcoming.
FACILITIES
The sauna features a 2+2 bench configuration with two lower and two higher floating benches. The floating design keeps the floor clear, simplifying maintenance while enhancing the visual openness of the space. The bench proportions allow for both reclining and upright seating, offering flexibility and comfort for users.
HEATER
The design features a HUUM HIVE 15kW three-phase heater, known for its elegant slimline form and even heat distribution. Control is managed via the HUUM UKU Glass Touch Pad, enabling convenient operation.
