BASICALLY A SAUNA REPLACING THREE LARGE STORAGE BOXES IN THE GARAGE

This custom sauna was installed within a converted garage in Bromley, transforming a previously utilitarian space into a private wellness retreat. Designed for practicality without compromising on aesthetics, it showcases how underused home areas can be repurposed with smart design.
The layout is compact yet efficient, delivering a comfortable and immersive sauna experience for up to two people. With its clean lines and warm finishes, the garage is now unrecognizable and serves as a tranquil escape corner of the house.
MATERIALS
​
The sauna interior is finished with Thermo Aspen, a thermally treated hardwood known for its rich golden-brown hue, dimensional stability, and low heat conductivity. Its smooth surface and resistance to moisture make it ideal for sauna use. The horizontal paneling enhances the linear form of the space, adding a sense of width and flow.
The consistent grain and natural luster of Thermo Aspen help create a calming, cohesive atmosphere. It’s not only functional but contributes significantly to the visual warmth of the room.

FACILITIES
​
The design includes one high level long straight bench to lie down and a step half the width of the bench so that you can comfortably sit on the top bench if you want - offering seating flexibility and improved airflow throughout the space. This classic layout is ideal for compact rooms, maximizing comfort and accessibility.
Concealed LED strip lighting adds soft, indirect illumination that enhances the spa-like ambiance. The minimal design, combined with thoughtful lighting, creates an atmosphere of quiet retreat.

HEATER

The sauna is heated using a Harvia wall-mounted electric heater with built-in control, a compact and efficient solution perfect for smaller home installations. Despite its space-saving design, it delivers robust performance with fast heat-up times and consistent steam generation.

The wall-mounted design frees up floor space, contributing to the sauna’s streamlined layout, while the integrated control system ensures easy operation without the need for additional devices. Harvia’s proven reliability and sleek modern look make it an ideal choice for this compact garage transformation.
