Bespoke Super Compact Sauna : NOTTING HILL, LONDON
In this unique residential project, a disused spare WC was transformed into a fully functional, space-efficient two-person sauna. Designed to maximise relaxation within a compact footprint, this sauna serves as a perfect example of how underutilised spaces in a home can be reimagined for wellness and luxury. The minimal design and warm wooden interior make it a discreet but impactful addition to the home.

MATERIALS
​
The interior is clad in Thermo Aspen, a heat-treated hardwood prized for its durability, dimensional stability, and rich, warm tone. Its uniform grain and subtle sheen bring a refined finish to the small space, while the horizontal installation of the cladding adds a sense of width. Thermo Aspen is also known for its low heat conductivity, making it comfortable to touch even at high temperatures — perfect for small, enclosed sauna rooms like this.
FACILITIES

This sauna is designed for up to two people, offering an intimate retreat within the comfort of a converted WC. The benching is designed to comfortably seat users while maintaining airflow and heat circulation. A custom ventilation strategy ensures even temperature distribution, and the lighting is minimal and warm to complement the natural tones of the wood. Despite the room’s compact size, this sauna delivers a full, immersive experience, proving that wellness doesn’t always require a large footprint.
HEATER

The sauna is heated using a Harvia wall-mounted electric heater, a compact and efficient solution tailored for small-scale home saunas. Despite its modest size, the heater delivers powerful steam and rapid heat-up times. Its sleek, space-saving design allows for wall-mounting without intruding on the limited footprint, ensuring both comfort and safety. The built-in control panel provides straightforward operation directly from the heater itself, eliminating the need for a separate control unit. Harvia's strong reputation for reliability and user-friendliness makes it a top choice for installations where performance and simplicity are key.
