Bench Integrated Heater Sauna : ISLINGTON, LONDON
COMPACT YET SPACIOUS SAUNA WITH HEATER INTEGRATED WITHIN THE BENCH
The fairly straightforward request for a compact two seater traditional Finnish sauna from our client in her basement bathroom equally fairly rapidly transformed to fit a full size sauna within the same space without moving much of the bathroom furniture.
We installed the sauna frame and insulation to make the best use of the available space and finished with slimline vapour barrier and timber cladding. The lower bench is an L shape with heater integrated within.
MATERIALS
The interior is fully clad in Thermo Aspen, a sustainably sourced and thermally modified hardwood prized for its resistance to warping and rich, amber-toned finish. This wood’s smooth surface and uniform grain offer a refined, luxurious feel while remaining cool to the touch even at high temperatures. Ideal for a bespoke traditional sauna where every detail matters. The clean horizontal cladding reinforces the linear aesthetic, giving the space a calming sense of structure and flow.
Thermo Aspen’s durability and low thermal conductivity ensure lasting performance and user comfort. The combination of craftsmanship and premium materials makes this compact sauna feel exceptionally high-end and inviting.
FACILITIES
The sauna features a two-plus-one bench arrangement—two lower benches and one higher bench with the top bench constructed in a floating style without support legs. This ensures easy cleaning access beneath the bench and contributes to the sauna’s modern, minimalist appeal.
The 500mm bench width provides ample seating comfort. The layout promotes optimal air circulation and thermal layering for effective heat distribution — the same standard we apply to every pool house sauna or basement installation we design.
Concealed LED strip lights enhance the ambient experience, tucked neatly to highlight architectural lines and create a gentle, warm glow throughout. An 8mm clear standard glass door offers privacy and maintains heat retention.
HEATER
This sauna is powered by the HARVIA CILINDRO 9kW single-phase heater, which uses 80 kg of sauna stones to dissipate heat evenly in the sauna. As per the manufacturer’s quite accurate statement : The heater suits various styles of sauna interior designs, meeting the demands of even the most ambitious interior designers and architects. This sauna heater offers flexible and clever solutions to creative placement in the sauna room and options in installation, such as embedding the heater in sauna benches.
Controlled by XENIO Wi-Fi enabled touchpad, the sauna can be remotely managed for temperature and session settings, offering unmatched user convenience. This smart setup merges Scandinavian design sensibilities with cutting-edge technology, delivering a wellness experience that’s both intuitive and indulgent.
